Although Taiwan's economy is gradually picking back up, the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics has found that of the number of unemployed workers in Taiwan, the age bracket of 15 to 24 ranks the highest.
On average, 11% of 15 to 19 year olds are still facing unemployment and the problem is indicative of the difficulty that Taiwanese youths face when seeking jobs.
Meanwhile, corporations continue to complain about the lack of talents and youths who are unwilling to work.
According to a survey conducted on 245 corporations by the Taiwan Alliance for Advancement of Youth Rights and Welfare, over half say that they are willing to employ youths who fit their criteria.
This means that whether in creative or labor work performance, Taiwanese youths have major advantages.
The only thing Taiwanese youths lack is experience.
As a result, civil rights groups are urging the government to initiate a corporate and vocational training program to increase the employability and skill sets of youths.
