The President of the Industrial Technology Research Institute or the ITRI has recently made an open apology over the course provided, which teaches employers the loopholes of the Labor Standards Act. The Chief Executive of ITRI has since been removed from his post for not properly screening the content of the class.

By paying only a 3000 NT dollar tuition fee, corporate employers can enroll in a course at the Industrial Technology Research Institute that will teach them how to circumvent the Labor Standards Act.

The course will not only teach employers how to work through loopholes in the Labor Standards Act, but also how to report labor insurance salary at the barely legal minimum requirement.

With its governmental affiliation, the ITRI ironically led a class that coached corporate employers how to work through loopholes in regulations and avoid social responsibilities.

The news has drawn severe criticism, and representatives of the ITRI have issued a formal apology.

However, President Ma considers this debacle to be much more than a minor mistake, and instead responsible parties should be heavily penalized.

Council of Labor Affairs Minister Jennifer Wang is also urging the corporate circle to stop looking for ways to dodge policies at the expense of labor rights, saying following regulations is the least they could do to act socially responsible.

But in regards to whether similar cases will be inspected in the future, Wang says more data on policies will need to be evaluated.
