In its latest move to combat bullying on campus, the Ministry of Education has joined forces with the Ministry of Justice to work on a compilation of relevant legal knowledge, for the use of teachers in elementary and secondary schools around the island.

According to Ministry of Education statistics, more than 4,300 cases of campus violence were reported between 2008 and 2010.

The MOE and Ministry of Justice are hoping to use legal education to put an end to bullying, and are working with prosecutors, judges, and education scholars to create a legal knowledge question bank.

The government hopes that educators can incorporate this resource into daily classes, and the MOJ is also promoting new "restoration of justice" policies to help mediate cases between bullies and their victims.

Most children seek assistance when they encounter others being bullied, but 15% of students choose to do nothing.

The MOE and MOJ hope that bullying can be eradicated from campuses through legal means and character education.
