There is an ancient Chinese saying that "one should be independent at the age of 30", but in our modern society, that target is becoming harder and harder to hit.

According to a recent study, 35 percent of young individuals say that there is no way that they can be on their own at 30 years-old, because the salary is too low, and the housing prices are beyond their reach.

Unlike most people his age, Chao is financially capable before reaching the age of 30.

But not everyone is this fortunate. According to the numbers released by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, there are more than 2.1 million individuals between 20 and 30 years old.

And with the competitive society, many seek for masters or doctoral degrees after graduating from college, thus, cutting down their years of employment to obtain more savings before the age of 30.

In supporting that fact, a job bank also found that 63 percent of the young adults believe that they cannot even achieve half of their goals, let alone making enough to settle down.
