150-YEAR-OLD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO OPEN FOR TOURISM
A Kaohsiung elementary school with more than 150 years of history will soon be open to the public for the promotion of local tourism. But the walls surrounding the campus may have to be torn down as a result, which has raised new concerns over the safety of its students.
The elementary school students are trained to explain the history of the tombstones at the old town elementary school.
Recently, the school hopes more people other than its students can have the chance to understand the history behind the tombstones and open the campus to tourists to check out the historic relics and the century old trees on campus, which include the 3rd class relic of ChunSheng Shrine.
The Old town elementary school is located right next to the famous Kaohsiung city tourist attraction of Lotus Lake.
The school officials believe that the relic belongs to the public and thus should open the campus to them, and in the future, turn the campus into a planned historic park, linking up nearby tourist spots, combing neighboring communities and turn the campus into a friendly community campus
