THE RISK OF CHATTING AWAY
We may just have to start listening to people's advice about not to chat away on the phone after hearing this next story.
A young couple in Kaoshiung is now suffering from cubital tunnel syndrome, or the compression of the elbow, for holding onto the phone for too long, which can lead to damages of the nerves.
Medical experts are suggesting individuals of using hands free devices or avoid being in the same posture for an extensive amount of time, to prevent experiencing similar condition.
Almost everyone cannot live without cell phones.
A couple in Kaohsiung has been talking on the cell phone everyday for 3 months, with each talk session lasting 1 to 2 hours.
The result was difficulty of opening the palm, which would be painful.
The couple is also experiencing numbing sensation of the hands.
The bending of the elbow while talking for a long time has caused cubital tunnel syndrome, according to doctors, the worst case is operation to treat the syndrome.
Doctors advice the public to use hands free device instead of using hand to hold the cell phone should the conversation be too long.
