CELEBRATION WITH THE SOUND OF GONG
An iron works factory in Yilan is celebrating its 100th anniversary by inviting children to experience the fun in playing the huge iron gongs. Here on CTS, let's have a look.
Can you tell the man is playing an old tune " The Wind of Spring"?
It's surprising for us to learn that the gong actually has a 17-note scale.
The size and the thickness of the gong would determine the note.
For children, they are curious about how the ancient musical instrument is made.
For those who can't hold onto the huge iron mallet, it's time to change to one of different sizes.
Children can try to make super mini gong and have fun with the process.
The iron work in Ilan specializes in making gongs, with a huge one that's four times bigger than average sizes.
Just by hitting the gongs gently, you too can become an instant musician.
