A "snatching the spring cow" event was held at Tucheng's Mazu Temple, where people believed that touching the spring cow will bring good fortune for the coming year. The traditional practice has attracted over 10,000 participants. Here on CTS, let's have a look.

As soon as the green "spring cow" arrives, people began pushing each other out of the way.

According to tradition, anyone that touches the spring cow will enjoy good luck in the coming year.

Within minutes, the head, legs, and hooves were gone and only the metal structure was left.

Some people then picked up bamboo sticks and struck the cow 12 times, which is a symbol of prayer.

Tainan's most famous Lantern Festival event is the Yanshui fireworks festival, but the spring cow event also attracts more than 10,000 people to the area every year.

The evening concluded with a beautiful fireworks show that lit up the night sky over the temple.
