EX-FIRST LADY SENT HOME BY PRISON
Former first lady Wu Shu-jen was announced physically unfit for prison after a health assessment by the Pei Teh hospital of Taichung Prison. She was later sent back home.
Wu was escorted under heavy security to the prison hospital yesterday morning, when her 17-and-a-half-year jail term was scheduled to start. Many pan-green supporters were gathering outside to express their opposition to the incarceration of Wu, while Wu's son, Kaohsiung city councilor Chen Chih-chung, demanded the prison authorities and the medical team to conduct a fair exam free of political concerns. And DPP politicians generally approved of the prison's decision.
