INFLUENZA DEATHS ON A RISE
Nine more influenza related deaths have been recently reported by the Center for Disease Control, bringing the death toll up to 68 people since last July. With the number of severe flu cases on the rise, the CDC is strongly urging the people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
In the cold winter, Influenza has taken another 9 lives.
According to the Center for Disease Control, those 9 were between the ages of 51 to 88, one of them died from type B flu and the other 8 died from the H1N1 virus.
Out of the 9, 2 people had received the flu vaccine, but passed away due to their weak immune system.
The peak time for this wave of flu was around Chinese New Year period, with 18 people died from it.
The total number of people who died from flu since July of last year totaled 68.
The CDC pointed out that, this wave of flu included the viruses of type A, type B, H1N1and H3N2 as it broke the record ever since the CDC started recording the data and it is the third wave of flu epidemic.
The CDC reminds the public to get vaccinated; currently, 115,000 vaccines are available for children, however, it won't take effect until 2 weeks after receiving the shot
