Tommy Chen, who is widely considered to be the successor of ultra-marathon champion, Kevin Lin, will participate in the 100 kilometer ultra-marathon race in South Pole next month. Before departing, Chen released an autobiography in which he shared his story of pursuing his dream.

At the North Pole in 2008, Tommy Chen donned a heavy jacket and geared up for the ultra-marathon race.

Just the day before, Chen had to endure a vicious blizzard storm, low visibility, and temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius.

Chen grit his teeth as he took off and began his long run against competitors from other countries.

Chen took third place and set the record for the youngest competitor in history to win a place.

Understandably, the extreme weather conditions and dangers of the race give Chen's parents a lot to fret over.

But seeing their son courageously chasing his dream and earning a place, Chen's parents now have more confidence in their son.

Tommy Chen began running the international marathon race in 2005 and conquered the Himalayas that year.

This year, he nabbed third place in the North Pole individual marathon.

With support from his parents and coach, Chen is determined to keep chasing his dream.

Chen is scheduled to leave for the South Pole to participate in the 100 kilometer South Pole marathon in December.

Temperatures are expected to be around minus 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Before setting off, Chen will release his new autobiography, which he hopes will inspire his readers.
