The Cloud Gate Dance Theater recently presented a new production, "Water Stains on the Wall", in which the dancers perform on an 8-degree stage. Now, let's go check out the new creation that is inspired by the traditional Chinese calligraphy.

Although the Cloud Gate dancers must perform on a steeply slanted dance stage, they maintain their balance and perform all kinds of awe-inpiring stunts.

In this challenging environment, the dancers simulate a beautiful ink painting with their graceful limb movements.

To accomplish this feat, the dancers have gone through a gruelling month of intensive training.

They stumbled often but each time they picked themselves back up and kept training until they conquered the slanted platform.

Using the greatest calligraphy works to draw analogies with an anecdote on "Rainmarks," Lin Hwai-min says that since he was little, he has made the profound observations on his roof.

Sometimes the rainmark patterns resembled faces, sometimes dragons.

This has inspired Lin to create a dance piece that integrated this phenomon, the calligraphic works, as well as his own imagination.

"Rainmarks" is a sequel to "Cursive Trilogy" and it embodies the same elements of calligraphy.

However, Lin has stressed that this time they will not be performing calligraphic dance movements.

Instead, the focus this time will be on the integration of mother nature.

He hopes to challenge himself and his dancers' physical endurance through the art form of calligraphy.
