Final Stage for Mayoral Race
Candidates of the Xin Bei Mayor's race both announced plans yesterday to hold a series of campaign rallies in the hope of driving more supporters to the polls. While Eric Chu of KMT declared his goal of winning at least 1.1 million votes, DPP's Tsai Ing-wen made no mention of specific numbers, only stressing that she prefers to reach out to voters in ways other than conventional mobilization.
The KMT's Xin Bei City mayor candidate, Eric Chu, recently played a game of basketball with young supporters at his campaign headquarters.
Later on, he listened to them as they expressed their thoughts and viewpoints.
With only 23 days remaining until the municipal elections, Chu is set to embark on a tour of the city's 29 townships and hold a series of campaign rallies.
His opponent, the DPP's Tsai Ing-wen, traveled to Sanchong on Thursday to meet with vendors at the traditional produce market. Tsai said that she would also be holding campaign rallies, but that she will not be asking party heavyweights to stump for her.
Instead, she is hoping that the passion of her supporters will touch the hearts of undecided voters.
With just three weeks remaining until voters head to the polls, both candidates are doing everything they can to win the swing vote.
