Chu And Tsai on Debate
Both candidates in the Xin Bei City mayors race stated yesterday that they look forward to an open debate in the near future, but the exact date remains undecided, since their respective parties still haven't reached a consensus over the format.
Despite poor weather conditions, Eric Chu, the KMT candidate for the mayor of Xin Bei City, still stuck to his original campaign schedule and tried to connect with voters at traditional marketplaces, hoping to win them over with his friendliness.
However, when facing the media, Chu delivered a slightly more contentious message to his rival, DPP chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen.
"I do hope that Chairwoman Tsai will accept the invitation to an open debate with me" He said.
Meanwhile, Tsai was also busy with her own campaign event, and she seemed more than eager to take the challenge.
"I'll accept whatever terms for a debate. I'm already a bit tired of such talk."
But disagreements between the parties over details of the debate format have yet to be resolved. So, despite the overwhelming eagerness of both candidates to duke it out on TV, at this point theres no telling when, or if, the debate will ever take place.
