FLOUR PRICES GOING UP EVEN MORE?
Bakery owners are frowning after finding out that the prices of local flour may hit a record high, following the sky-high international wheat prices. However, the Taiwan Flour Mills Association is telling the public not to stress over it, because it is nothing but a rumor.
The recent talks about another rise on the prices of flour is worrying many, including the bakery owner of this shop, who has not adjusted the cost of the pastries just yet, in fear of losing his customers.
He said that the prices of raw materials have gone up by 30 percent since last year, and he is not sure if he can sustain his business without upping the cost of his products if the rumor is indeed true.
It is said that starting from June 1st, the 22-kilogram bag of flour will cost 680 NT dollars, setting a new record in Taiwan. The
Taiwan Flour Mills Association has since denied that report, and said that only selected flour will see a slight increase, with the 22-kilogram bag remaining at around 500 NT dollars.
