According to the Consumers' Foundation on random shoppers, 60 percent say that they're feeling the pinch when it comes to paying for daily necessities, like gas and instant noodle, while 50 percent of people are expressing their discontent over government's response of dealing with the price hike.

Commodity prices have been surging since the Chinese New Year, and we are seeing a price hike in various items on the shelves, including instant noodle and rice.

Despite the government's efforts to curb the price hike, consumers are still paying for more.

According to the latest poll that's conducted by the Consumers' Foundation from March to April, out of the 1,200 interviewees, 60% of them say they are feeling the impact, especially in products that are needed on a daily basis, such as gas and food.

The survey also indicates that 50 percent of the consumers are struggling with the additional expense, and 50 percent of them are dissatisfied with the government's way of handling the situation.

The foundation believes that the government is unable to effectively control the long-term trend of market prices, because the Price Control Committee under the Executive Yuan is only temporary.

The foundation is suggesting the government to hold press conferences to inform the people about the effect of global commodity prices and to explain why everything is costing more every day.
