The Ministry of Economic Affairs and local travel agencies have been working together to come up with different travel packages for people who are looking to enjoy the great sceneries across the island. Now you can be adventurous and experience the wonders of Taiwan for less than 500 NT dollars.

With old streets full of historical remains, trains passing nearby and sky lanterns released into the sky, Pingxi old street has been a very popular tourist attraction during the holidays. However, the streets are always packed with tourists and it's almost impossible to find a parking space in the area.

To help people arrange their spring trip without worrying about transportation, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and local travel agencies have offered four travel packages in northern Taiwan at 499 NT dollars for each person's insurance and transportation fees.

Visitors have to pay for their own meal and the tips for the drivers. Packages include a trips to see the Japanese dormitories in the Pingxi area of the New Taipei City, to have a ride on the train at the Shi-Feng train station, to visit the mountainous areas and recreational farms in Nei-wan, to experience the Hakka culture in Bei-pu and to pick up strawberries and visit the wine brewery industry in Nan-zhuan.

Business owners in these tourist attractions said that it is good that the government came up with the packages, which brought customers to them, but the government should try harder to solve the problem of insufficient parking spaces in the areas.

Travel agencies said that the packages usually cost 700 to 900 NT dollars. The Ministry of Economic Affairs said that if the program proves to be good, it will arrange 39 more tourist packages in the future, to boost local tourism.
