The Gender Sexuality Rights Association Taiwan has recently announced the top 10 gender issues of 2010, including the White Rose Movement, and the cases involving the government's fail attempt to decriminalize sex workers. The association criticized that gender and sexuality rights are on the decline in the society, while rational discussions are no longer seen.

Last year, lenient treatment for a sexual abuse case involving a young girl led to a social protest sparking the White Rose Movement with the Gender Sexuality Human Rights Association this year calling it one of the top ten events.

Some are calling for judicial reform, but this human rights group sees it as a cause for concern.

It believes that the rise of conservative forces over the last year, including the Children and Youth Welfare Act restricts freedom of the press, with some scholars worrying that a non-rational society is taking shape.

Other top ten incidents include the government's long term pledge to decriminalize sex workers continues without any specific evidence of progress,

with Mackay Memorial Hospital firing a male employee who liked to wear women's clothing,

along with Taipei City's Department of Education issuing a document to suppress gay organizations at the start of the year.

This association says that while the ROC enjoys its centenary, attitudes to gender and sexuality continue to seem as if it were still in a feudal period of history.
