IN THE MEMORY OF LO MAN-FEI
In the memory of the famous dancer and choreographer, Lo Man-fei, who passed away five years ago, members of the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre are showcasing their latest "Spring Riot" performance, which is put together by four choreographers. Here on CTS, we're taking you to check out an amazing show, that blends different dance genres.
A dancer's body swings and the stage has a robot cello and violin, which make a sound.
For these new dances, choreographer Lin Hwai-min used his most respected youth choreographer, Huang Yi's fantasy, creating a strange machine like this cello, allowing dancers to move and create these beautiful notes to be heard.
Compared to Huang Yi's new vocabulary for dance, one choreographer that has been recently promoted, is male choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava, who re-adapted the work "Passage" eleven years ago.
A suitcase is dragged, and one is walking on the road as if lost, and continuing to dress and strip, even with a little dust representing life and death.
This dance not only explores the philosophical side of life, but also pays respect to Lo Man-fei. Marking the 5th year anniversary of the death of Lo Man-fei, Cloud Gate's "Spring Riot" this year has specially recruited four students from different periods of Lo Man-fei's life.
They were asked to stage new choreography together to commemorate the life of this teacher.
It was also hoped that these four young choreographers would use different styles and dialogue to represent Taiwan's contemporary dance in creating a vital and lively performance.
