The price of cabbage has dropped drastically to 10 NT dollars each, which is not even enough to cover the cost to grow the vegetable. Now, some farmers in Yunlin County are opening up their farms to let the public pick up cabbages for free.

Recently the temperatures are rising, many cabbage farms in Central and Southern Taiwan are harvesting at the same time, causing the prices at origin to drop to 3 NTD per kilogram.

In other words, each cabbage is only 10 NTD. Many farmers say that they're losing money selling the vegetable after the cost of harvesting and fertilizer.

While the prices of raw materials are rising, the prices of cabbage remain stalled.

30 cabbages are sold to middlemen at 100 NTD.

The production of cabbage is about 10,000 tons across Taiwan.

Unless related authorities are willing to purchase them, farmers would have to suck it up since the great harvest doesn't equal to huge income.
