With the Chinese New Year coming next month, many people are busy wrapping up their work before the family gathering time. In Luye Township of Taitung County, pineapple farmers are trying to make the most out of their harvest by producing pineapple-flavored sticky rice cake.

The elderly woman in her 70's is preparing sticky rice to make sticky rice cake for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

The farmers growing organic pineapples are making an innovative use of the fruit.

They air-dried the pineapples they can't sell and make it an ingredient of the special sticky rice cake.

Molasses are added in boiling hot sugar water.

The mixture is then blended together with steamed rice cake while dried pineapple pieces are added gradually.

Within five minutes, the aroma of dried pineapple gets stronger.

After the whole mixture becomes cold, it is delicious pineapple-flavored sticky rice cake.
