Cny Extra Flights Schedule Pending
Reservations for additional cross-strait flights during the Chinese New Year have been delayed indefinitely due to scheduling difficulties on the mainland's side, according to the Civil Aeronautics Administration. But for Taiwanese businessmen who have spent years working in China, such a result is hardly surprising.
The Chinese New Year holiday is only three weeks away, but cross-strait holiday flight schedules have not yet been finalized.
The Civil Aeronautics Administration had originally planned to announce additional holiday flight schedules and open reservations on Monday, but the timetable has been delayed due to unconfirmed Chinese flights.
Taiwan's airlines are set to add 99 flights to their schedules between January 20th and February 17th, but China has confirmed only 49 of 230 proposed additional flights.
Popular routes are already operating at capacity, and additional flights may therefore largely be red-eye or early-morning flights.
According to one frequent flyer, holiday schedules are never finalized until the last minute, and those that want to return home for the holidays should have their seats booked months in advance.
At present, more than 90% of available seats have been reserved, and many travelers are waiting for holiday flight schedules to be announced.
