Extra Train Services for Holidays
In anticipation of increased ridership during the upcoming New Year holidays, both the Taiwan Railways Administration and the High Speed Rail have announced that additional train services will be offered from December 31st to at least January 2nd. And travelers can start making ticket reservations today.
The Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation has added 20 trains to its schedule between 2 p.m. on New Year's Eve and January 3rd.
During this period, unreserved seating cars will increase from three to four cars per train, while 10% discounts on designated trains will remain in effect.
The Taiwan Railway Administration will also add 117 trains to its schedule between December 31st and January 2nd, including two eastern and one southbound overnight trains on New Year's Eve.
Five Taipei-Fulong trains in the early hours of January 1st have been added as well for those that will be traveling to the Northeast Coast to watch the first sunrise of 2011.
Online and telephone reservations for both high speed rail and TRA trains will open on midnight at Friday.
