Thsr Ridership Records
Here's a new milestone for Taiwan's High Speed Railway. A recent survey shows that nearly half of Taiwan's population has taken the transportation system.
It is estimated that the total ridership will exceed 100 million in early August.
A recent research portrays a rising demand of passengers taking the high speed rail. Among the people questioned, 48 percent say that they have taken the high speed rail before, 62 percent travel using the system, 60 percent ride the railway to visit their relatives, while 20 percent add that they don't mind working outside of town because of the convenience it offers.
The High Speed Railway System has been running for three plus years, providing a time-saving and an efficient way for the public to travel around the island.
Despite of its loss in revenue in the past, Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation says with an average of 100,000 travelers per week, the total ridership is expected to surpass the 100 million mark in early August.
The company is looking to set up a new discount plan in the near future, and more details regarding this matter will be announced in October.
