Ain't No Mountain High Enough
What's the proper age to start mountaineering? For one family in Tainan, the answer is two years old. A pair of siblings in the family, both aged under 10, have been climbing mountains with their parents since the tender age of two. So far they've already conquered dozens of famous mountains around Taiwan.
What seems like impossible missions for many adults are merely cakewalks for these two schoolchildren. The siblings of the Huang family, aged 9 and 5 respectively, have managed to conquer some of the most feared names for Taiwan's mountain climbers, such as Yushan, Dabajianshan, and Snow Mountain.
Pictures of them trudging along steep mountain paths, cooking in a cabin, and smiling at mountain tops, can all be seen at their family blog, impressing countless visitors.
The entire Huang family are avid mountain climbers, and the two children have started mountaineering with their parents at the age of two.
Over the years they have already conquered more than 70 of Taiwan's most famous 100 mountains. And instead of just tagging along with their parents, they've been actively participating in the process of trip planning in advance, which turns out to be an invaluable educational experience for them both.
Some veteran mountain climbers say, at this rate, it won't take long for these two siblings to set a new record as the youngest climbers ever to have conquered all 100 famous mountains of Taiwan.
