Taiwan Wins World Baseball Game
Chinese Taipei has won the 2010 World Junior Baseball Championship for the first time since 1983. These young athletes are mainly from Taichung's Shi Yuan Senior High School. Upon receiving the latest recognition, the school's staffs and students are completely overjoyed.
The younger members of Shi Yuan Senior High School's baseball team were in the middle of practice when they learned that Chinese Taipei had defeated Australia 8:4 to win the 2010 World Junior Baseball Championship.
Thrilled by the news as the Chinese Taipei team was mainly made up of players from the school, they attacked their drills with more vigor than ever before.
Chinese Taipei performed well throughout the tournament, and Lin Chia-ching's three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth all but assured Chinese Taipei of a victory in the finals.
Chinese Taipei hasn't won a championship since 1983, and the coach of the team praised the hard work and dedication of the players.
He also expressed hopes that the government can provide more resources to develop young athletes in Taiwan.
