Tsai, Su Eyeing 2012 Bid?
A remark by DPP Secretary General Wu Nai-jen earlier this week has further complicated the election in its final stage. When talking about the party's potential choice for the 2012 presidential race,
Wu pointed out that Su Tseng-chang or chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen may still run for the highest office even if they get elected this time. And the statement has led the KMT camp to question their commitment to the mayoral races, but both candidates emphasized that they will keep their pledge to the voters.
Though the weather is cold and wet, with only 2 days left in the race, all candidates need to canvas for votes.
DPP Xinbei city candidate Tsai Ying Wen was busy at LuChou, where it traditional is a pan-green district.
on the 24th, DPP secretary general Wu Nai Ren said that, whoever is elected in this weekends elecion would be the DPPs candidate for the 2012 president election candidate for the DPP.
Upon hearing Wus comment, Tsai immediately tried to put out the fire by saying that, currently, DPP by laws does not limit those holding a governmental position in running for municipal or presidential election.
As to whether shell participate in the presidential election, she didnt make a clear reply but instead, said that the promise to the voters will be taken into consideration.
On the other hand, KMT Xinbei city candidate Eric Chu was accompanied by KMT secretary general King Pu Tsong to Panchiao to visit a temple, where Chu made a stand on Wus comment as ask the voters to keep their eyes open and vote for the person whos heart is in the election.
With 48 hours left until the election, Chu started off from Panchiao before hitting ChungHo and YonHo, indicating the 430,000 voters Panchiao is an important district for the candidate
