Preserve Chih Shan Yen
Taipei's Chih Shan Yen has been famous for its beautiful scenery and natural environment. However, many people may be surprised to know that it's also a place with a historical significance. Now, let's hear what the archaeologists have to say about it.
Tourists love to visit Chih Shan Yen, located in Shin-lin district of Taipei.
It's a great place to get close to nature and observe the rich ecology.
But what you don't know is that it is also an archaeological site.
Back in 1979, archaeologists discovered new culture layers and named them Chih Shan Yen Culture.
One can see that the seven culture layers existed at the same time, which documented how people lived back in the days.
In the cultural park, the actual excavation site was preserved for educational purposes.
Experts believe there could be more heritage sites in the neighborhood of the park.
But since there are many construction projects going on in recent years, the efforts to restore ancient heritage have been stopped, which is worrisome to experts.
Since heritage sites are evidence and proof of past human activities and the accumulation of a city's civilization. Authorities should take a careful approach to assure archaeological completeness.
