Taichung Mayor Jason Hu opened campaign offices in five townships last Sunday, and the occasion featured an impressive line-up of KMT heavyweights stumping for the star candidate, giving local Pan-Blue supporters a much needed morale boost.

Arriving at the Wufeng Township campaign headquarters, Jason Hu was quite active as there was no speech on stage, instead choosing to close the distance with supporters.

He walked and talked at the same time, and met with all of the supporters as Hu has emerged as a heavyweight politician in Taichung County.

There was a strong show of solidarity behind him at his appearance today. Legislator Yen Ching-piao said that voters should choose a person with an international outlook and good diplomatic relations such as Jason Hu.

With the official electoral registration passing, interest in the elections is growing as KMT candidate for Greater Taichung Mayor, Jason Hu, used Sunday to arrange 17 different trips and establish campaign headquarters in different townships. Observers say that Greater Taichung City is the most stable race for the KMT. However, media polls have shown recently, that the gap between Hu and Su is only 6 percentage points.

Still, the polls also show that more than 50% of people expect Hu to win the election. Maintaining the KMT vote will be crucial to Hu as many continue to observe this election race.
