At the extraordinary session, KMT chairman Ma Ying-jeou held the hand of the party nominee for the Greater Kaohsiung election Huang Chao-hsun.

Now Yang Chiu-hsin confirms his election bid, which speculators believe will be an advantage for Huang's winning.

But the KMT keeps a low-key manner in responding to the speculation.

Some DPP supporters criticized KMT for secretly supporting Yang's election bid.

KMT secretary-general King Pu-tsun countered such remark with a tough attitude.

Although the split of DPP in the Greater Kaohsiung election may be an advantage to the KMT's election bid, the party officials also believe Yang could attract votes from blue camp supporters,

a phenomenon which is not exactly a good thing for the KMT. In light of Kaohsiung County Commissioner Yang Chiu-hsin's confirmed election bid as an independent candidate,

the KMT says it will not depend the election success on the split of its rival, as which serves as a big variable in reshuffling local faction power.
