Life Saving Invention
Taiwan has experienced quite a few natural disasters in recent years, and we cannot deny the fact that more safety precautions and new equipments are needed in the future. Now, a school has come up with an emergency mechanical arm that can be remotely controlled from 800 meters away.
Now, let's take a look at this technology that can be a helping hand when mother nature strikes again.
This strange looking mechanical arm can maneuver by six joints and has a hidden camera at the front end of the device.
Regardless of how dangerous a situation is, this mechanical arm can fill in as a substitute laborer.
Clearing away a suspicious object in the form of an explosive water bottle, the device can be controlled at 800 meters away and allow workers to stay out of harm's way.
The device is still going through tests to find buried mines and is expected to be ready by the end of the year.
With the cooperation of different specialists, the device is achieving better precision and more functionality.
This device has won a silver medal at the 2010 Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart.
Both the National Fire Agency and the Ministry of National Defense have intentions to adopt this mechanical arm.
Other features at the invention exhibit was a solar powered motorcycle and an efficient stable power solar panel system which have all won approvals and cooperation deals from manufacturers.
Technological integration is becoming a driving force in the research and development field in Taiwan.
