After a week of ceaseless efforts by the Taiwan Railway Administration, the flood-damaged section of the South Link Line has just been repaired, almost two weeks ahead of schedule. And it's expected to reopen today.

After an emergency repair work that lasted seven days and seven night consecutively, the three locations on the Taimali section of the Southlink Line that were washed away by flood have been completely restored, 13 days ahead of the estimated period of 20 days.

However, the railway authority dares not to compromise the safety issue, and conducted tests on the repair tracks by running 4 cars weighing 100 tons to test the safety.

The engineers are doing the railway stabilization work in the final stage, using three railway stablizing trucks to help the construction and raise the safety level of the ruined sections.

Typhoon Morakot last year ruined the same section, where Taiwan Railway Administration restored it in the fastest speed.

This time, it fills concrete in cargo containers to be the foundation of railways, which sharply reduced the reconstruction time. It is estimated that the South-Link line can resume its operation on September 29th.
