Typhoon Watch
Good morning and thank you for tuning in with me at CTS News. I'm Cary Chuo.
Typhoon Fanapi made landfall at the east coast city of Hualien on 8:40a.m. on Sunday, with heavy rain and winds up to 198 KPH.
The Taiwan Central Weather Bureau expected the eye of the typhoon to exit Taiwan from Chiayi or Yunlin on Sunday afternoon and move into the Taiwan Strait in the evening.
However, Taiwan will still be affected by the storm until early Monday morning.
Typhoon Fanapi made land fall Sunday morning at 8:40 AM at Hualien's Fengbing.
But the typhoon has moved a bit south because it's shape has been affected by the land fall.
The Central Weather Bureau expects the typhoon to leave Taiwan by 4 pm on Sunday through Chayi or Yunlin.
At that time, Southern Taiwan, especially south of Chayi, will see increasing rain.
The CWB is expecting 200 to 300 mm of rain.
But, if the typhoon slows down, Taiwan is expected to see more rain.
If rain fall in Taiwan reaches over 500 mm, it could bring land slides in the mountain areas.
It won't be until early Monday morning until the storm leaves Taiwan.
But, outer island residents in Kinmen and Penghu will still be in the path of the storm.
Residents there should continue to be vigil.
