With the destruction left behind from the recent blow, many are asking whether this violent storm has anything to do with global warming. Some experts believe that the excessive rain and the rise of sea levels in southwestern Taiwan, may be signs of potential natural disasters in the future.

Typhoon Fanapi first ravaged Eastern Taiwan then left Kaohsiung city in flood before it took off.

In some areas the rainfall reached 1,000 millimeters.

When asked whether the typhoon has anything to do with global weather changes, weather experts believe it's hard to say but it has got to do with the nature of the typhoon.

Although scholars think that global weather changes have a broad spectrum of impact, the huge flooding may be a result of the rising sea level of the southwest coast of Taiwan.

The rise of 0.7 centimeters is twice the speed of the global record.

According to Wang Chung-he, a researcher at the Academia Sinica's Institute of Earth Sciences, even if we cannot prove scientifically that the huge flood is a result of global weather changes, the frequency of such phenomenon indicates the change of the environment, which seriously challenges

the government's ability to cope with natural disasters.
