A Time for Gratitude
A teenage girl, who has been single-handedly brought up by her hard-working mother, got the admission to Taipei's top high school for girls this summer. And she showed her gratitude for her beloved mom in a very special way.
Yang Pei Han thanked her mother out loud while gave her the self-made chocolate covered yam a few days before Chinese Valentines day. Another great gift she gave her mother was getting accepted into Taipei First Girls high school.
Yangs mother is a patient of Hepatitis C and a diabetic, who needed to work odd, temp jobs to raise her two children.
However, her income was unstable and she could not see her children often after they get off school.
With the help from Genesis foundation, Mrs. Yang received training through the foundation on yam baking and now, she can sell over a hundred baked yams per day.
The new business improved the living condition and family relationship.
Her daughters would help with cleaning the yam, baking and even selling the yams with her.
With a big hug, both the mother and the daughter showed their strong will to survive in the tough economic environment.
Yang Pei Han wants to study hard and hope to become a doctor such as Lien Jia en in order to thank her mother for raising her
