TAINTED CANTALOUPES LINKED TO DEATHS
13 deaths and 72 illnesses across 18 states in the U.S. have been linked to the outbreak of bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, which has been found in tainted cantaloupes from Granada, Colorado.
Three more deaths are now still being investigated of whether they are connected to the contaminated fruit.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that the listeria infection has spread from California to Virginia, and the bacteria primarily affects people who have weak immune systems, including older adults, pregnant women, and newborns.
People are highly advised to throw out potentially contaminated produce, and sanitize any products that may have been in contact with it.
