9 FLICKS FOR BEST ANIMATION AWARD
Nine animation flicks are competing for the top prize at the 13th Taipei Film Festival, which gives the audience and movie critics an opportunity to screen around 200 films from over 30 countries.
"The Life Journey of Water", directed by Jack Shih, depicts the adventure of a tiny water drop, that traveled through time and space in portraying the significance of environmental conservation.
In Liou Chian-Fan's "Dinner", the story talks about the relationship between a father and his sons, who are struggling to support themselves. The father, who is a thief, decides to carry on with a plan that could end in a tragic way.
Is it a dream? or is it the reality? Director Lai Pang-Ni, is challenging your perception of life and death in her 6-minute flick, "Cellar Under the Train".
"Dear Snow White" by FANG Hsin-Kai describes a girl who cannot run away from her traumatic past, even if it means leaving her home.
Inspired by director Chi Po-Chou's own encounters in life, the existence of "The Lighthouse" is compared to the role of parents, who will always be around to watch over their children.
In the 23-minute film by Chen Chou-Lin, "The Other Side" is a tale about a boy and girl, who have been longing to go across the ocean to the other side of the island. But the real question is, will they ever make it?
In Café de L'amour, directed by Tsai Yun-Chieh, you'll come to understand the meaning of love via the process of making a cup of hot coffee, which involves taking you on a romantic ride around France.
A traveler falls in love with the aboriginal culture of the Orchid Island in Tseng Chia-Chi's "Libangbang".
And follow the young boy as he enters the world of spirits in an attempt to find out why the temple was burned down in "Time of Cherry Blossoms" by Tsai Shiu-Cheng.
These works are all by Taiwanese talents, and only one will shine from the rest to grab the "Best Animation Film" at this year's Taipei Film Festival, that will run until July 16th.
