THE IRON MAN COMETH
It's graduation season again, and here in Taiwan, it has almost become a custom for high school principals to appear in crazy costumes during commencement ceremonies. Earlier this week, the principal of Taichung's Mingdao High School has taken the custom to a new level by dressing as last year's coolest movie superhero.
Nowadays it seems increasingly hard to tell the difference between commencement ceremonies and costume parties, as graduates often appear in outfits mostly reserved for Halloween.
And more importantly, school principals are supposed to outperform the students and have the coolest look of the day.
For example, there's a male principal who dressed as a ballerina.
And another who showed up as Buzz Lightyear from "Toy Stories."
"To infinity and beyond!"
But neither of them is as impressive as this one.
Albert Wang, the head master of Taichung's Mingdao High School earned himself the
And in order to prove this was by no means a mere publicity stunt, the principal then enumerated several moral qualities of this superhero that he would like to see the students emulate.
"Iron Man takes care of the needy.
He protects world peace.
A scientist who is also competent in humanities."
The Iron Man suit looked extremely realistic, but it was actually made of paperboards, designed and created exclusively by students at Mingdao.
As far as creative costumes for principals go, this one really sets the bar high.
And one can reasonably say that it's just a matter of time before we see Optimus Prime delivering a commencement speech somewhere on the island.
