600 STUDENTS INFECTED WITH VIRUS?
It is reported that more than 600 students in the Pingtung County's Chow Cho High School are suffering from similar symptoms, with up to 70 cases being reported in one day. It is suspected that the disease is caused by some kind of virus and the health officials have started probing into the case to prevent a greater outbreak.
The teaching staff took groups of students to clean up the campus environment as they all were wearing masks.
There was a cluster Gastroenteritis infection of student at the PingTung county ChowCho High School since early April with people vomiting everyday.
There were only a few cases reported to the school at first, and the peak was between April 22nd to May 2nd with at most 70 cases of the infection reported a day. Afterwards, the school reported the situation to health unit and measures were taking to contain the infection, including disinfecting the campus.
As of May 5th, only 4 people were infected and the total number of students infected is more than 600.
As there is still no determination on what kind of virus caused the infection, however, it is known that as long as the students can improve their hygiene, the cluster infection can be controlled.
