HOW MUCH MORE ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY?
Following the increase of international wheat prices, we are not surprised to see a hike in the cost of pastries at bakery shops.
But how much more are we looking to pay for bread?
The long lines to this well-known store may start to get shorter in the coming days.
We are not complaining until we see the newly adjusted price tag. One of the best-sellers in the bakery shop that's located inside this Kaohsiung hotel, is this bread that is made with red wine, and because of its great taste, people don't mind the paying 300 NT dollars for it.
But following the rise of the global price of wheat, this 300 NT bread will see an 20 percent increase, to 350 NT dollars, starting next month.
For this popular longan bun, we will have to pay 200 NT dollars, instead of its original price of 175 NT dollars.
Business owners are saying that they have no choice to up the price of the products, while consumers are saying that the surge will make them think twice about purchasing their favorite bread.
"Do you think the price is reasonable?"
"Absolutely not."
"How so?"
"Too expensive."
So for a win-win situation, we may have to start brainstorming on how to make more cash, which is probably more practical than waiting for the prices of goods to drop.
