PRICE HIKE CONTINUES
Another round of cost adjustment has been made already, and that means customers can expect an increase of prices in numerous products on the shelves. Be ready to dig out more coins for various merchandizes including instant noodle, Coca-Cola and bread that are sold in convenience stores.
This drinks area within the store has many types of bottled Coca-Cola.
Whether it's bottles or cans, the price is quietly rising as a 600 ml bottle is rising from 25 to 29 NT$, an increase of 4 NT$.
Not only drinks are going up in price, but also foods such as bread as the cost of ingredients, such as oil and flour have increased. Higher costs will be seen as supermarket branded bread will go up by as much as 16%.
In addition, the second wave of price increases for instant noodles will take place as the highest increase will be up to 20%.
Seeing these stores raise prices, other bakeries also plan a price hike as bread will go up by 1-3 NT$ on average.
Discount stores selling self-branded bread at small profits won't see much of a change, but if raw materials continue to rise in the future, they do not rule out an adjustment.
With prices going high the Fair Trade Commission says that market mechanisms are used for these individual price hikes,
but it will continue to pay attention to watch for collusion or unscrupulous behavior amongst these industries.
