PROMOTE THE PRACTICE OF FILIAL PIETY
In traditional Chinese thinking, filial piety is the most important virtue. And an entrepreneur in Tainan has been practicing the teaching through kneeling down in front of his parents twice a day, as a way to show his gratitude to them.
Now he is also promoting the practice to younger children in elementary schools, in the hope of creating greater harmony in more families.
Ko Po Wen would dress up suits for work, but before he leaves the house, he would kneel down in front of his parents to greet them good morning,
offer them tea and hug them no matter how late he is for work for he believe it is his basic duty as a son to show his parents his filial piety.
He also asked his children to do the same to him and would have his children asking him for autograph.
Ko believes that he needs to be of a good example to his kids first as he think children who understand the virtue of filial piety will never gone bad.
Ko would often take time out of his busy schedule to go to elementary schools to teach student the ritual of kneeling in front of parents as he hopes to let people know how simple it is to express the love for parents in the traditional Chinese way.
