OLD ELECTRICAL WIRING BLAMED FOR FIRE
Taipei City councilors have recently received reports from residents in the Da-an Disctrict about their home appliances bursting into flames for no apparent reasons. After an investigation, it has been found that Taipower's old electrical wiring is to blame for these accidents.
Residents now demand Taipower to examine all the electrical wiring in old neighborhoods to prevent similar events from happening again.
The stereo was burnt to black even though it was not turned on, the areas around the stereo were all destroyed in the room of an 25 year old apartment that belongs to Mr. Yeh last week.
He is lucky that no flammables were around and was able to put out the fire.
According to Yeh, in the past few years, many home appliances would break for no reasons, those living in the same building would also have the same problem, though Tai Power sent people to inspect the situation,
but it could not find out the reason why until Yeh found out that it was due to the fact that the power supply wirings were expose outside on the first floor with simple tape wrapping to secure it.
The deteriorating condition and nearby cable providers adding signal strengthening device without prior approval, led to the overload of the power plug, which caused the accident.
Looking at such an old community, it is a common problem as all local residents hope tai Power can move all electrical wirings indoors according to the electricity regulation act in order to protect their homes from unexpected fires.
