Hau Sworn in to Second Term
Good morning and thank you for tuning in to CTS News. I'm Cary Chuo.
Taipei mayor Hau Lung-bin was sworn in to his second term in office yesterday morning, and he vows to
make Taipei a role model in overall development for the other municipalities in the next four years.
Taipei City Mayor Hau Lung-pin raises his right hand as he is sworn into his second term in office in front of a portrait of Sun-Yat-sen, and from the hands of the vice minister of the Legislative Yuan, Chen Chung, Hau takes the official seal of Taipei City mayor.
Former city mayor Huang Ta-chou and former KMT chair Wu Po-hsiung were in attendance to witness the event.
At the ceremony, Hau expressed his expectations of how Taipei City will develop and the bellweathering roles the five city districts will play in the near future.
Hau says that Taipei City must be rejuvenated; city districts must be renovated, sceneries must be revolutionized, and in order to encourage youths to stay in Taiwan, there will be a four-year plan to expand residential complexes.
DPP election rival Su Tseng-chang is also pushing forth a political agenda of constructing a green boulevard.
At the ceremony, 62 administrative members were sworn in and several discussions took place at the city council, causing a busy scene.
Afterwards, the city coucil elected the new council speaker and vice speaker.
KMT contenders, Wu Bi-chu and Chen Jin-xiang faced off against Li Jian-chang and Chou Bo-ya of the DPP.
As the blue and green camps hold 30 versus 23 seats, respectively, the election will likely be in favor of the blue.
