Before the election, Taipei City Mayor Hau Lung-bin has brought up his proposal in building public housing in the prime area of Taipei City, which led to great disputes. Now that he has been re-elected, will Hau carry out his plan? Here on CTS, we got the answer from Hau, who was visiting another public housing that had just been revamped.

Taipei City Mayor Hau Lung-bin takes our camera into the public housing that has just been newly renovated in Taipei City. With fine touches of doors that can be opened with an effortless swipe of the Easy Card, and kitchen cabinets that can be pulled down, the residence is customized to make lives easier for the disadvantaged individuals. Regardless of the modern look, there are still some small things that still need improvements.

After testing it out, a disabled man said, "the handle to the closet rod is still too high for him. It would be beter if the holder is retractable".

With this model in mind, Hau strongly emphasizes that he is focusing in altering the image of public housing, by incorporating the designs into more than 4,000 units, which will be constructed starting next year.

As for Hau's proposal to develop another public housing next to one of the most luxurious apartments in Taipei, "The Palace", the debates are still ongoing.

Hau stresses that there are decent public housings in many foreign countries, and he will continue to communicate with the nearby residents, who are opposing to his idea. Despite of the negative feedbacks, and with the central government's questioning the project, Hau is not backing down, but adds that he will carry on his discussion with the Ministry of National Defense about the usage of their land.
