With nearly 1000 mm of rainfall in the space of a couple of days, the hard-hit Yilan County was almost completely covered in water. In the next story, our reporter tries to show the magnitude of the disaster from the vantage point of a train carriage.

The video footage of the view from train going to I-Lan from Taipei shows that almost everything is under the floodwater in I-Lan County.

All farmlands, houses, roads are submerged with the situation worse as the train go south on the eastern coastal areas of Taiwan.

Some trapped residents took home video from the second flood of their homes to show that the first flood of the building was completely underwater.

The floodwater rushed into the areas like ocean wave with the far away bridge looking like it is underwater too.

Though not to the second floor, those houses on higher grounds are also flooded. Footage captured by local residents showed the seriousness of the situation and they all hope that the rain would stop soon and the floodwater can recede soon also.
