For Good Fortune
For the annual Mooncake Festival in Kingmen, streets are closed off to get the public involved in the celebration including tasting the "zhuangyuan" pastries, and playing dice rolling games. And there are no losers, because either way, you're blessed with good luck for the entire year.
The entire street has been sealed off and 99 tables have been set up. Families of adults and children of all ages arrived throughout the day to play dice games and experience a traditional Mooncake Festival.
The annual event, which is held by the Kinmen County Government, is a traditional festival that has been passed down through the generations for over three centuries.
During the Ming Dynasty, soldiers stationed far away from home were suffering from homesickness. To ease their pain, dice games were prepared to entertain the soldiers. The pastries eaten by these soldiers were called after the top-ranked imperial examination scholar: "zhuangyuan".
All in all, it was a fun-filled day for everyone.
