Hidden Calories in Pomelos
With the Mid-Autumn Festival less than a week away, you probably have been indulging yourself with mooncakes and pomelos already.
But you may want to cut it down to prevent adding few extra pounds soon after the celebration.
Pomelos are juicy, sweet and delicious.
The seller eats pomelos while selling the fruit, saying that she has at least five pomelos a day.
And since the fruit tastes better this year, many can't wait to buy more.
While pomelos are the most popular fruit during the Mid-Autumn Festival, its calorie is no less than mooncakes.
Take the small Cantonese mooncake for an example.
Its calorie is extremely high, but half of the pomelo has a calorie of 120, slightly higher than 100 calories that half of a moon cake is.
In fact, the calorie of half a pomelo equals to half bowl of steam rice. If you eat one a day, you need to cut down your rice consumption by one bowl.
While both pomelos and moon cakes are fattening, the public is advised to consume half the portion and share with friends or families.
