The Taipei Food Souvenir Fair kicked off on Friday, with the products of 30 stores nominated by web users as the best of the city. During the fair, consumers will not only enjoy a variety of discounts but also get the chance win a brand new BMW vehicle.

Whether it is the pineapple cake from the famous JingChaio yin restaurant or mooncake in the shape of plum blossom of different colors and flavors from the Taipei pastry shop, they are all picked as the top tourists favorite items for Chinese mid-autumn festival, according to a list released by the Taipei city government.

Also on the list is soy sauce flavored meat and vegetarian food items from Shihyun and Lao Tien Lu.

Tea is also another gift items many tourists would purchase when they are in Taipei. The test tube packaged teas are popular with young tourists and they are from Shin Yeh teashop while the old-fashioned iron container packaged tea is from Wang Chuan Shin teashop.

It is an effort by the Taipei city government to help traditional food industries to sell their products for the up coming mid-autumn festival holiday.

This weekend, all the 30 nominated shops will hold a fair. Customers will get NT$100 of for every NT$1,000 in purchase, while earning themselves a chance to win a BMW car with purchase of NT$500 or more at the event.
