The night market competition has gained immense buzz around town, and the ultimate result has finally been unveiled.

And it's not what you think. Kaohsiung's Liuhe night market, which previously conquered all in every category via the online poll, only took away the most gorgeous night market

It is no question that both Kaohsiung's Liuhe and Taipei's Shilin night markets are the favorites among foodaholics, and the prior Internet score also shows their popularity. But do critics think the same? The answer is, not exactly.

Instead, Keelung's Miaokou night market has emerged as the biggest winner, securing the top positions for two criteria including the friendliest and the most tasty night market on the island. Taichung's Fengjia and Yilan's Luodong night markets followed behind, both finishing second in those same categories.

Shilin and Liuhe night markets have tied for being the most gorgeous ones, while Taipei's Huaxi Street night market has been named for having the best shopping.

As for being the most green night market, experts have decided to leave that slot empty, because none of the hot attractions seemed to meet their standard.

Organized by the Tourism Bureau, the city and county governments first selected 30 night markets to the surface, and then they were evaluated by voters and judges. With the success of this contest, food experts are suggesting that in the future, the bureau should hold similar events, but in addition, include other great smaller night markets so that they'll have a chance to shine as well.
